About Me

About Me

Hello and Welcome.

My name is Shira and I am a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the BACP.

Person-centred therapy is a type of talking therapy which provides you with a compassionate, non-judgmental, caring and safe space to talk and discuss anything that is affecting you in your life.

Many whom I have worked with have not immediately sought counselling, yet over time have realised they wanted and needed the opportunity to speak to someone about things in their life that are affecting them. Having the space to explore their feelings and thoughts in a safe, accepting and warm environment has benefited and enabled them to develop their self in many ways.  They have also found the process to be very empowering.

I tailor my work to the needs of my clients and quite often use creative ways for people to explore what is happening for them.

As a person-centred therapist I work with what the person brings which means I am not limited to an area or issue that I work with.

Areas that I have extensive experience of working with are anxiety, stress, depression, identity issues and health issues including cancer, chronic illnesses and mental health conditions.

I work with adults, young people and children (12 years and above) and offer telephone, online and face to face therapy.

I am qualified mindfulness therapists so I can incorporate mindfulness into my work with clients or as stand alone sessions for individuals or groups.  Mindfulness mediation and guided imagery is very beneficial for those with chronic illness and pain and for those struggling with anxiety and stress and assist in developing resilience.

For those who have experienced emotional trauma that they find difficult to talk about, I can incorporate Brainspotting into their sessions to help them process their experiences without them needing to speak about it.

When I am not seeing people in my practice, I enjoy walks and practicing aerial yoga.
