Counselling and Psychotherapy
Counselling and Psychotherapy can support you to explore things happening in your life whilst providing you with space and time to explore your experiences and reactions to situations.
Through talking we work together to enable you to develop a greater sense of yourself and situations. I work in a person-centred way and incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques and models to help you work towards your own self development. I often use creative techniques and art to support individuals to unlock feelings and emotions they may struggle to express and explore.
Person-centred therapy gives you the freedom to talk about anything without an agenda and develop your own goals, and I encourage those I work with to develop self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-trust.
The essential qualities that enable me to create a supportive therapeutic environment are;
Being open, honest and transparent
Seeing you as an individual and being accepting of you
A desire to understand you, your world and your experiences
I am also able to offer solution based therapy and incorporate aspect of other therapeutic methods to support you to achieve your personal goals.
When working with a young person I tailor my approach to their needs so that they are able explore their feelings and emotions in a compassionate, non-judgemental and supportive environment.
Often teenagers and young people experience issues that results in them becoming aware that something isn’t quite right and struggle with their emotions and feelings, which then impacts on their relationships with family and friends, academically, socially and their views of their self-worth and confidence.
I work by providing a therapeutic environment so that a young person can develop skills to talk about their emotions, navigate their lives and find solutions for themselves whilst building self-confidence and self-worth so they can feel happier, more confident and have more control.
